Fortifying Cyber Defences with Managed eXtended Detection and Response (MXDR)

Think your IT systems are fully secure? Unless you're monitoring, you may still be compromised.

The latest statistics show that a cyber criminal can be in a company’s systems undetected for 240 days on average. That’s well over half a year that a hacker could be working their way into your network, all without your knowledge.

The good news is that the latest in monitoring and defence techniques improve your ability to spot threats and improve your response if you experience an incident. Having the right tools in place can help you get more favorable terms on your policy, and our underwriters look for the most robust versions. Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) tools have matured and provide valuable detection capabilities while Managed Detection and Response (MDR) offers additional protection by managing your EDR and network log monitoring.

  • Managed eXtended Detection and Response (MXDR), however, takes detection and response to the next level. MXDR is a service-led security solution that combines advanced threat detection and human-led response to combat and root out exposures, making it one of the best forms of cyber protection for organisations. Studies have found that expanding detection and correlation capabilities with an MXDR solution can dramatically reduce attack detection times – to as few as ten days on average, allowing service providers to contain suspicious activity before an attack can fully manifest.1

In the constant battle against cyber risk, we believe MXDR to be one of the most important controls that an organisation can proactively implement to reduce the risk of a cyber-attack and fight back in the event of an attack. We want our broker and client partners to understand its value too, so in this report, we are taking a deep dive into what MXDR entails and why it is such an important tool for organisations to leverage. We explore how MXDR can help manage top threats, such as lack of a coordinated response, visibility, continuity, and resources.

Just as our Full Spectrum Cyber approach to cyber risk is pre-emptive, responsive, and adaptive, MXDR is an important tool in an organisation’s cyber risk management strategy, helping them to manage cyber risks as they evolve, and get back in the game quickly in the event of an incident.
