Remembrance is a pillar of my life. It is so important to remember the sacrifices that have gone before us. Unfortunately, we still ask for sacrifice as we move forward and so it is about the present and asking for the bravery of those to protect us in the future. As a former Royal Navy Minewafare and Clearance Diver my Branch is at the frontline of clearing historical ordnance, clearing modern ordnance and IEDs.
The Lloyd’s Community had many fallen in both world wars and has a large number of reservists and former serving officers who have been in the forefront of keeping us safe and we must remember and celebrate them.
The Remembrance Ceremony at Lloyd’s is a moving ceremony where we gather in the room to mark the occasion together and as a Community. The Chairman of Lloyd’s, the Lord Mayor and the Head of Trinity House were all in attendance. I will be present to give the exhortation and lay a wreath in Lloyd’s in my role as the Chairman of the Lloyd’s and City Branch of the Royal British Legion, the last remaining Legion Trade Branch.
