UCO Apprenticeship Programmes

Our globally aligned Underwriting and Claims Operations teams provides bespoke support to Underwriters and Claims Managers worldwide, where things get real and our market leading policies are used to help customers in times of crisis. 

We ensure the smooth operation of back office duties so our Underwriters and Claims Managers can focus on making decisions, while we identify areas with room for improvement and implement logical efficient processes.

We are looking for an apprentice in 4 UCO teams. The recruitment process is done as one ‘underwriting & claims’ pool, but during application we ask if you have a preference for a particular team – you can identify your top 2 preferences or give no preference at all – either is fine. To help you, we have provided information on each of the teams below. You will also get to choose a location preference – please note if you have a location preference first, this will automatically remove some of the team options.

Apprentices will participate in 2 or 3 rotations in their chosen UCO team throughout the programme. This is designed to give you a broad experience and build up your knowledge and network, setting you up for future success and informing your career at Beazley. Following the successful completion of the programme, apprentices will move into a full-time permanent role within UCO.

You will be based in our London or Birmingham office, working alongside other Underwriting and Claims Operations team members who will support your learning and development.

  • Ceded Reinsurance:

    The Ceded Reinsurance Operations team are responsible for ensuring efficient and accurate processing and reporting on the Reinsurance Asset for the Group. The team work closely with various functions in the Group including Underwriters, Finance, Actuarial and Claims to ensure premiums and recoveries are calculated correctly. The team engage with brokers and reinsurers to resolve queries and ensure accounts are promptly settled. Make a difference in ensuring applicable recoveries contributing to Beazley’s profit are collected promptly and embrace process and control enhancements.

  • Claims Operations:

    Claims Operations is an integral component of the broader Underwriting and Claims Operations (UCO) Department, a global entity dedicated to delivering tailored support to Underwriting and Claims. Our team plays a crucial role in facilitating seamless back-office operations, allowing Underwriters and Claims Managers to concentrate on strategic decision-making. Additionally, we proactively identify opportunities for enhancement within our processes and implement innovative solutions to drive operational efficiency.   • Delegated Operations:

    Delegated business is the fastest growing distribution channel at Beazley, accounting for 25% of all business written globally.  At Beazley, we have a long standing history of working with other businesses around the world to access niche and specialist business we cannot directly write ourselves, where such an opportunity is identified we can delegated our underwriting authority to other insurers or insurance agents to write business on our behalf - no matter where in the world that company calls home.
    In Delegated Operations, our role is ensure these businesses are robust, meet our requirements as business partners (from a regulatory, controls and compliance standpoint), align with our culture of treating customers fairly and continue to meet those standards throughout the business partnership with Beazley.  We also provide analyse and insights to the business on performance of delegated business and help inform strategic decisions.
    The Delegated Operations team work alongside and interact with most areas of the business including Finance, Compliance, Information Security, Wordings, Claims, Underwriting and Data Management - to name a few. We work directly with Brokers and the Lloyd's Corporation and represent the business at market associations, providing opportunity to work with a wide range of teams and businesses.

  • Operational Excellence:

    Operational Excellence supports Operations drive enhancements to our processes and gain deep insight from our data to provide better outcomes to our customers. Operational Excellence is a strategic team that exists to act as an enabler to support the realisation of Operations potential. The team supports across a number of areas including; championing continuous improvement, driving optimisation of business processes,  supporting technology delivery and enabling data insights. The team is a business partner to all functions across Operations, driving numerous initiatives simultaneously to achieve positive outcomes for Beazley.

Apprentices will gain their CII Certificate through the relevant Level 3 or 4 apprenticeship standard whilst on programme

104 UCAS points (BCC at A Level) + GCSE Maths and English (grade C/4 or above)
