He was previously the president of international operations of The Hanover Group (THG) until he retired from the Group in May 2016. A fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Bob started his career in insurance in 1975 and worked as an underwriter both in the UK and US, until he was asked to form a new Lloyd’s syndicate, 1096, in 1987. In 2003, Bob was appointed underwriting director following the merger of syndicates 1096,1084 (Marine) and 587 (Motor) to form composite syndicate 1084, the flagship syndicate of the Chaucer group. Bob was appointed as CEO of Chaucer (a subsidiary of THG) in 2010 and remained in that position until October 2015. Bob served as a member of the London Market Group, was deputy chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association Board. He is currently, Chairman of LMA Academy Committee and, a Liveryman and Court Member of The Worshipful Company of Insurers.
